Creating Field Boundaries (iOS)

Before you Begin

  • If you have poor/no service, download your grower details before going into the field.
  • Make sure you create all of your farms/fields while in service as well – you will not be able to draw a boundary for a field that has been created while offline.
  • If you have poor or intermittent service, bump the app offline through settings for more accurate mapping results.
Do Not Proceed Before Reading This!

Do NOT let your screen die while mapping.  It will result in a big line being drawn across your field from when your screen died, to when you unlocked your iPad/iPhone again.  Change the Auto-Lock settings on your device (not the app settings, your phone settings) to Never. (Settings > General > Auto-Lock > Never)

Make sure when you are completing your boundary, stop before your starting point and auto-complete your boundary or it will probably bow tie and error out.

Pause

Press Pause when you are stopped at any time while drawing a boundary or it will continue to plot points in the same place or bow tie your boundary.

Save

Press Save when you are ready to auto-complete your boundary and save the current polygon

Done

When you are done with the current boundary, press Done to get the option to draw another polygon, plot an exclusion, or complete the boundary.

Map a New Boundary

  1. Go into the field, press Boundaries, and press Add New Boundary.
  2. Name the new boundary (or add v.2, etc).  Select the type: Management will redo the actual boundary, an Operational can be used to map a specific portion of the field and will not affect the boundary of the field itself.
  3. Press Begin to start the Boundary.  Drive around your boundary
  4. When you complete your boundary (and press Save/Done), you will get the option to plot an exclusion or plot another polygon.  Either select one of these options or hit Done to finish the boundary.
