Controllers and the need for specific Folder Hierarchy

Many individual controllers require a specific folder hierarchy on the USB drive or Compact Flash (CF) card in order to find the prescription file.  The folder hierarchy is listed below for different controllers.  Make sure the prescription file is in the final folder of the hierarchy.

NOTE: When formatting a USB Drive or Compact Flash Card, most controllers prefer the FAT or FAT32 format.  Do not use the NTFS Format.  Most of the time, they are pre-formatted to FAT32, so there is no need to format them.

  1. (USB:\) – Individual computers will assign different letter to this drive.  Make sure you are creating the folder hierarchy to the USB drive.
  2. (CF:\) – Individual computers will assign different letter to this drive.  Make sure you are creating the folder hierarchy to the Compact Flash Card.

AgVerdict will export shapefiles in a projection of WGS84 datum.  This projection is what nearly all controllers require.  If you have received a prescription from someone that you believe is not in WGS84, contact your tech specialist so they can re-project it for you.

If you are using a Shapefile as the prescription file, make sure the Shapefile is not zipped. Also make sure the Shapefile contains all three files needed to make a valid shape file (*.shp, *.shx, *.dbf).  All three of these file extensions must be together in order to make a valid Shapefile.  All three files must be named identically in order to make a valid Shapefile, only the extension will be different (ie. Bigranch.shp  shx  Bigranch.dbf).  There are other extensions often associated with a Shapefile including *.prj that are not necessary to have a working Shapefile and will be ignored by most controllers.
